Proper Civet Coffee Equipment Maintenance

The quality of the coffee that we prepare at home most especially if we are using raw materials such as beans for civet coffee will generally depend on the cleanliness of the materials and the equipment we are using. When you have noticed differences in the taste and aroma of the low caffeine coffee you are preparing in spite of the standardization you are implementing on the amount of materials and the consistency of the process, then most probably you will need some serious cleaning to do on your equipment. Remember that sometimes, there are still some coffee residues that are left behind despite the simple washing you are doing. A trace amount can do a lot of damage to the original taste.

For your brewer, it is generally recommended that you do the cleaning with water that gas some vinegar that has been added to it. Vinegar tends to scrape away any residue that has been sticking to the metal components. There are some brewers that come with self-cleaning systems but it will not be effective for those situations when the coffee stays for a long time inside the brewer itself. The residues that may be left behind will be generally safe for health of the drinkers but will spoil the perfect taste of coffee that most of us desires.

For the coffee pot, it will be ideal to maintain the purity of everything that touches it. Always have a clean spoon when you will use the pot. After using it, make sure that you immediately wash it with soap and water. Transfer any unused coffee to a different container because allowing it to stand still on the pot for extended periods will result to residue accumulation. This will make the taste of the next batch of coffee you will prepare different form the one which you have previously prepared.
